The report contains records of a seminar on renewable energy and Islamic finance held by several non-profit organizations in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy. The report design followed the G20 brand guidelines emphasizing minimalist design.
I created this promotional booklet together with the team of The Centre for Policy Development (CPD). A compact eight-page marketing document designed to provide information, engage new clients, and motivate action—like offering services. CPD emphasizes four main areas of services, including forced migration in Southeast Asia, social services reforms, energy transformation, and well-being environment.
A policy brief that recommends sustainable biofuel development, strengthening regional cooperation, and supporting ASEAN’s renewable energy goals.
I used color palettes to represent eco-minded color inspiration for sustainable energy. I combined fonts such as Helvetica Neue, the sans-serif typeface, and Sitka, the serif typeface, to achieve minimalist and professional looks. Cheers to Adobe Stock and Shutterstock for the collection of impressive photos and illustrations that help me to translate clients’ ideas to come true.
A first comprehensive report to communicate the most of existing frameworks and processes over ten years to strengthen ASEAN’s forced migration architecture. My role is as a report designer who creates visually appealing, user-friendly reports based on CPD brand guidelines.
Changing life begins with performing better habits seriously. It takes time and endless dedication. What do you want to do? What do you want to achieve? What kind of life do you want to have? Lao Tzu said a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. So let’s go!
Generating new business ideas for starting a business can be challenging if you have limited funds or have been unemployed for years. Sometimes, you may reach the limit of patience and often feel hopeless. You realize how hard it takes to formulate ideas about what kind of business to do. However, developing viable ideas with the right mindset and tools is possible. So don’t give up just yet! Here are five steps that can help you generate new business ideas:
Identify the problems within your family, organization, or community that need solving. Compile them into a list of new business ideas, such as coffee budget-friendly for late-night workers or renting assistive devices for older people. If you are confident and determined enough to solve these problems, there is a chance to turn them into a business opportunity.
Analyze emerging trends in different industries. Explore business ideas in education, fashion, food and beverage, health, lifestyle, technology, and other industries. For instance, people are hunting good low-price fashion products in recession. Starting a business in pre-loved fashion might be a good idea. Buy bulk clothes in good condition from distributors, and sell them online or through word of mouth.
Use your expertise to start a business. Think about what you are good at. Cook, write articles, analyze data, repair leaky roofs, sell products, lead a team, layout brochures, design buildings, sew clothes and many more.
You are a proven copywriter. Imagine this. You meet a friend who is fatigued due to work stress. Massive layoffs in the office forced him to do several jobs simultaneously. He and the team were overwhelmed and needed help doing some tasks, such as making reports for internal meetings. There you go! Ask him to delegate the assignment to you and offer writing services to him.
Conduct simple market research to identify gaps and needs within a market. You can use this information to start a business that fills those gaps.
One day, I heard a story of a pet owner who frequently travels out of town. She has to leave the dogs for quite a long time. She is concerned about the quality of her pet’s food. I realized there was a demand and caught a potential business idea. What if starting a catering business for dogs and cats? It might work.
Look for inspiration from successful entrepreneurs. Apply their incredible business lessons to motivate you to start a business. Attend networking events and conferences to connect with other entrepreneurs. You will gain new insights and inspiration for potential business opportunities.
The life story of Nusret Gökçe or Salt Bae may inspire you to start a business even if you don’t finish school. He is a famous Turkish chef and restaurateur. He lived in poverty, forcing him out of school and working as a butcher since he was young. Then, he went abroad to study as a chef and restaurateur. As an apprentice, he gained valuable knowledge and applied it to build Nusr-Et. His signature style of sprinkling salt and cutting the meat has gone viral on social media and the internet. Today, he has opened a Nusr-Et steakhouse chain in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
The mantra is that a good business idea must solve a problem, meet a need, or fill a market gap. People around you may be pessimistic and say the idea is familiar or weird. The door to opportunities will open if you do it differently with perseverance.
Leading investment and securities company Goldman Sachs predicts artificial intelligence (AI) will cause significant disruption in the labor market. The research results by Goldman analysts estimate that the rapid development of AI will be able to automate 300 million full-time jobs worldwide. Sounds familiar to this information these days?
Some well-known billionaires have called for AI creators to delay the more powerful AI to save humanity. However, Pandora’s box is already wide open and impossible to avoid its impact in the present and future.
Stay calm! There are some essential things we should understand about AI.
ChatGPT claims the purpose of AI is to assist and provide helpful responses to human inquiries, such as automating specific tasks and roles. AI isn’t to replace human interaction or creativity because AI doesn’t possess a human worker’s emotional intelligence, intuition, or creativity. ChatGPT emphasizes soft skills will remain highly valued in many industries and professions because they are crucial components of many jobs.
Advanced technologies and different work processes continue to emerge and evolve rapidly in the blink of an eye.
So, what to do now?
1. Enhance soft skills.
Essential soft skills include:
Strong communication skills will benefit your collaboration efforts in person and remotely.
Interpersonal skills include active listening, dependability, empathy, flexibility, leadership, motivation, patience, responsibility, and teamwork.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills will help you adapt to new situations and challenges.
Flexibility and adaptability will help you mentally prepare for an unknown future.
For example, unresolved conflicts result in losses for the business and reduced productivity among employees. Imagine that you have to resolve a dispute within your team. Conflict resolution, in reality, involves many complex thoughts and emotions between two or more people. To resolve a conflict, you must perform specific soft skills such as assertive communication, collaboration, empathy, problem-solving, self-awareness, and self-control.
Suppose you ask ChatGPT to resolve a conflict. In that case, ChatGPT explains that as an AI language model, I can’t feel emotions but can offer general advice on approaching such a situation.
In conclusion, you don’t delegate tasks involving dynamics of emotion and thought to the AI because lacking interpersonal skills like humans.
2.Learn new hard skills.
New industries and job opportunities require skills and expertise in artificial intelligence, data analysis, data visualization and programming. Shockingly, today, AI can process data and create programs in a short time. If you request ChatGPT to compose complicated coding with precise instructions, this AI can do it faster and better than humans.
What can I do now?
Expand digital literacy and proficiency with various software programs and applications.
If you’re good at design and have expertise in operating well-known design software, this may be the time to expand your capability. Learn about user interface/user experience or UI/UX design to enhance competitiveness. You’ll learn that a good application is a product that can incorporate the human experience into the machine.
For example, you get an assignment to design a first aid application for older people. In the meantime, the latest AI can create UI/UX and build comprehensive coding quickly. However, an application must work properly and have functions that accommodate real human needs. You can only understand older people’s urgency by conducting research such as an in-depth interview. Interviewing them needs soft skills such as active listening, empathy, motivation, and patience.
In conclusion, cooperation between humans and machines will benefit humans as well.
What’s to do next?
3.Stay up to date on AI trends.
Today, it’s easy to catch information about current and emerging technologies across platforms, especially social media. Stay informed by following the trends to curate your skills and abilities to survive in the job market.
Learn to use the latest AI technologies and tools for your and other people’s benefit.
It will be an exhausting match between humans and AI. Strengthening the skills that humans are good at is one of many solutions. There is no other way but to progress constantly.
